INTERVIEW
WITH SCOTT LIGHTY
BY STAFF CORRESPONDENT BRIAN SMITH
(10.2.04)
Having trained with the famous Fairtex camp in San Francisco and Meijiro
gym in Holland, has made Scott
Lighty an excellent fighter. He made his biggest impression during
the K-1's "Bellagio III" in August of 2004 as he gave up 45
pounds, but still won his bout. He
also trains with UFC Superstar Chuck “The Iceman” Liddell.
Lighty
offered his thoughts about the upcoming Heavyweight Gladiators "King
of the Gladiators" Professional 8-Man Heavyweight Kickboxing Tournament
in Milwaukee on Saturday, November 13th.
Brian Smith: What is your fighting style?
Scott Lighty: "I started training in Muay
Thai Kickboxing when I was 19."
B. Smith: What will be your strategy for the “King of the Gladiators"
Tournament? What do you consider your biggest weapon?
Scott Lighty: "My strategy is to go in there
and fight. I feel I can knock someone out with every one of my weapons,
especially the low kick and the liver punch."
B. Smith: What do you know about your first round opponent?
Scott Lighty: "I saw his picture. That’s
about it. I don’t really care."
B. Smith: How do you feel about K-1, Heavyweight Gladiators and other
8-man events?
Scott Lighty: "I think it’s cool. I
like to prove my skills. I like to fight. More fights in one night sounds
great to me."
B. Smith: What fighter do you look up too?
Scott Lighty: "I look up to the tough fighters
like Chuck Liddell and Arturo Gatti. I just want to get in there and
knock them all out."
