INTERVIEW WITH BRYCE FRANCK
BY STAFF CORRESPONDENT BRIAN SMITH

(Tuesday, October 19, 2004) Strong as the "Man of Steel" and ready for action, he flies to the Heavyweight Gladiators 8-Man Tournament in Milwaukee from Rockford, Illinois. Bryce “Bam Bam” Franck, who was a big Superman fan as a kid, now trains and certifies Illinois' toughest law enforcement officers on the proper use of force.

Come November 13th, Franck will use all his ability to bring his dangerous opponents to justice and earn the title of “King of the Gladiators." Franck most recently fought September 10th in Rockford and earned a solid 2nd round TKO victory over fellow Gladiator Chuck Jewell.

Brian Smith: What is your fighting style?

Bryce “Bam Bam” Franck: "Muaythai Kickboxing."

B. Smith: What will be your strategy for the “King of the Gladiators" Tournament? What do you consider your biggest weapon?

Bam Bam: "Fight each fight as it’s the only fight of the night and hopefully continue to roll on through. I would say my biggest weapons are my knees."

B. Smith: What do you know about your first round opponent, Mark Miller?

Bam Bam: "I have sparred with him in the past. I consider him a friend outside the ring, but bell to bell, we’re bitter enemies."

B. Smith: How do you feel about K-1, Heavyweight Gladiators and other 8-man events?

Bam Bam: "8-man tournaments have changed fighting a lot. You can no longer come into an event in ok shape or bad shape and hope your skills are going to carry you through. A lot of times it becomes a question of who gets hurt the least."

B. Smith: What was your biggest fight?

“am Bam: "My last fight against Chuck Jewel was the highlight of my career because it’s the first time I fought in my home town. I won with a second round knockout."

How did you earn your fight name?

Bam Bam: "I was considered a brawler. People used to say, I wasn’t in a fight until I got hit a time or two. And then “Bam, Bam!”
