Gladiators Fighting Cleveland promoter Greg Kalikas was masterful in matchmaking this evening as the card proved to be one of the most exciting MMA scrums to date. Each fight delivered a tremendous amount of excitement and the crowd was on their feet going wild for a majority of the show! Kudos to Greg and his well organized, professional staff for a job well done. That's Ryan "The Lion" Madigan pictured at top left launching one of his patented high kicks en route to a 1st round KO victory over Ricardo Martinez while Jason "Freebird" Freeman celebrates his 1st round KO victory over Todd Seyler on the right. YELLE
BATTLES WAY TO GLADIATORS FEATHERWEIGHT KICKBOXING TITLE!!!
A full house was on hand to watch the second installment of Gladiators Fighting in the "frozen tundra," and the reception the huge crowd gave the fighters was anything but cold!
The sky's the limit with this guy, because when Sandoval says he's going to do something, take his word, he does it, and in grand fashion! Lucky for Green Bay Gladiators Fighting fans because Sandoval plans on bringing the show back 3 times in 2007! Assisted by the talented Charlene Berlowski, Sandoval once again worked his butt off to pack the KI Convention Center and the 12 bouts offered didn't disappoint. From an impressive VIP dinner for 400 catered and staffed by Hooters Restaurants (whoo hooo!!!) to the big, red double-decker bus he secured for the "post fight party tour" (smart, no drinking and driving for these guys), it was a first-class show all the way.
Whatever the PKL champ had in his war chest wasn't enough though as Yelle fended off any serious attack from Sessman and let loose with his own barrage of painful low kicks, precision knee work and spot on punching that took his opponent out of the game. It was Yelle's aggressiveness and constant stalking of his prey that took it's toll on Sessman early on, eventually forcing Referee Al Wichgers to call a halt to the bout at :44 seconds of the second round. An elated Yelle jumped into his trainer's arms, and was mobbed by his cornermen and fans that made the trip from Marquette to watch the title bout in person.
In the second round, Friedland, in side mount position, teased his opponent and the crowd a couple of times by holding his right leg straight up in the air for a few seconds before bringing bone crushing knee strikes back down into Lesley's exposed side and arm. This bout was all "White Trash" as the Milwaukee resident and owner of Neutral Grounds BJJ earned the victory convincingly. In their second go 'round, Marquette's Tim Nixon once again had Green Bay's Mike Servais number as he dominated from the opening bell and earned the TKO victory :30 seconds into their Middleweight MMA bout. If these two meet again, Servais will have to figure out a way to get past Nixon's swarming Muaythai based, in-your-face stand-up game. Steve Wright represented Minneapolis, Minnesota's well-known Menne Fight Team extremely well, dispatching Wausau, Wisconsin's Don Stachovak two minutes into the first round of their Light Heavyweight Kickboxing bout. Referee Wichgers had no choice, but to step in and save Stachovak from Wright's impressive display of Thai Boxing skill as well placed, shin splattering low kicks and knee blasts sealed the deal on the TKO victory.
A tough Rob Jensen, representing Green Bay's Haus of Combat, took care of business early, forcing Referee Wichgers to call a halt to his Heavyweight MMA bout with Oneida's Tony Paul at 1:25 of the first round. Watch for Jensen in the coming months as he tries to make his mark amongst the Gladiators Fighting MMA Heavyweights. In Gladiators Fighting Middleweight MMA action, local favorite and Haus of Combat product Tre Perkins didn't disappoint, winning his bout with Green Bay's Adam Thao by submission at 2:26 of the second round when Thao suffered a broken hand. "Battle In The Bay 2" was presented by Miller Brewing Company and sponsored by The Razor 94.7 FM, 95.9 Kiss FM, Artrageous Ink Tattoo Studio, Harrill Construction & Custom Woodworking, Hooters Restaurants, In Kahootz and Mojo's Pub & Grill.

WEIMAN
WEARS GLADIATORS WELTERWEIGHT MMA CROWN!!!
The exciting fight came to an end at 4:13 of the first round when Weiman's rear naked choke hold produced the desired effect and Delanoit submission. The bout was action packed up until that point, with both fighters putting on a great show for the appreciative standing room only crowd. Kudos to promoters Colin Kvool and Frank Ingardona on a fantastic, well organized show that started on time and featured a combination of 10 action packed Kickboxing and MMA bouts. Colin and Frank have carried the Gladiators Fighting torch well as they represent the best in Rockford's rich history of combat sports promotions. Ryan "Steel Hands" Stonitsch (right, top and bottom) earned his second Gladiators Fighting victory in a row when he wrestled Jeff “Wolverine” Howard to the ground and began pummeling the Wolverine senseless, causing referee Al Wichgers to call a halt to the attack :13 seconds into the Welterweight MMA tussle.
Fans are already buzzing about Stonitsch's next Gladiators Fighting appearance, which will most likely come in early 2006. He is an exciting fighter who has made his mark quickly on the Gladiators Fighting circuit. It will be interesting to see what move Stonitsch makes next as his teammate Weiman is the current Welterweight MMA champ, but Stonitsch's last two outings have been award winning in their own right. Stay tuned fight fans.

GLADIATORS WELTERWEIGHT MMA CHAMP RETIRES
With an overall record of 12-3, Cox leaves the ring as a champion and will go down as one of the best fighters to ever come out of Northeast Ohio, as he gives way to a new Gladiators Fighting Welterweight king who will likely be crowned on November 3rd in Rockford, IL. Along with his current duties as a Cleveland police officer, Cox will now focus his attention on training the next generation of MMA champions as one of the coaches/trainers of Marcus Marinelli's Strong Style Fight Team which includes the likes of UFC veterans Forrest Petz and Dan Bobish. Gladiators
Fighting wishes Jeff Cox all the best and congratulates him on a very
fine and impressive fight career.

TAKAMATSU TAKES SECOND TITLE, CHOUDHURY WINS FIRST ON "GLADIATORS FOREVER"
It was necessary as Bustemante proved capable of getting his shots to land as targeted (as evidenced in the photo at right) and kept Takamatsu on his toes throughout. Gladiators Fighting allows fighters to hold a Championship belt in one weight class of Kickboxing or MMA. Takamatsu is choosing to campaign at the Bantamweight (-135 lbs) class and will be relinquishing his Featherweight Championship belt. The Featherweight Gladiators Kickboxing Championship will be for grabs Saturday, November 11, 2006 in Green Bay, (WI) pitting Ben "The Stoneman" Yelle against Bruce Sessman.
The "Beat Down of the Night" award goes to Rockford, Illinois' new Gladiators Welterweight MMA sensation Ryan Stonitsch who completely obliterated Milwaukee's Jon "White Trash" Friedland with a seemingly immediate barrage of hammer fists to the back of Friedland's head, causing White Trash to tap out and submit :21 seconds into their one sided bout (left). Fighting in front of a largely pro Friedland crowd, the sudden onslaught and abrupt ending left the arena completely silent for maybe a minute or more as fans struggled to comprehend what they just saw.
Friedland seemed to be fine minutes later as he embraced a victorious Stonitsch and congratulated him on the victory/butt whoopin'!
Standing up or grappling on the canvas, it was pure mayhem. It wasn't until a Krull armbar submission at 3:03 of the second round ended the night for a game Chacon. This one alone was worth the price of admission. A real crowd pleaser if there ever was one. Let's hope these two rematch very soon. Kickboxers Peter Kaljevic of Long Island, New York (originally from Montenegro, former Yugoslavia) and Milwaukee's Neal Fox went the distance, with Kaljevic pulling out an unanimous decision victory in a 3 round scrape. What makes this one special is that Kaljevic is a former 5-Time World Champion who has made over 100 appearances in the ring, a treat many fans may have not realized they were privileged to see. Hats off to Fox who went the distance with one of the sport's all-time greats and looked good in the process, not an easy task to accomplish for the Duke Roufus Academy fighter. Milwaukeeans are already buzzing about the next Gladiators Fighting brew city blowout scheduled for Saturday, February 17, 2007 at State Fair Park. Tickets can be reserved by calling (414) 967-7767 or email Gladiators Tickets - Milwaukee.

Countdown to "Caged Vengeance 2"
After
Dent recently agreed to terms with the UFC, the door opened for Walker
to step in and make a name of his own in front of the hometown fans.
“Having the hometown crowd behind me gives me an unspoken advantage
inside the cage, even if I am entering this fight as the underdog.
Clevelanders tend to hate everything from Pennsylvania, which comes
from the whole Browns-Steelers rivalry” said Walker on his hometown
edge this weekend. After
defeating UFC veteran Adrian Serrano to capture the middleweight title
this past June in Milwaukee, Whitesel may be at the top of his game
and hopes this will be the start of a long reign as king of the Gladiators
Fighting Middleweight division. After
an impressive second round TKO win over Clint “The Haymaker”
Zeedyk at "Fight Nite in the Flats 2," Madigan brings his
hard hitting style of fighting to Cleveland for a scheduled three
round war with Trukovich, who is among the heaviest handed Gladiators
in the Welterweight class.
GODFATHER'S IMPRESSIVE VICTORY HAS WINNIPEG BUZZING Articles Courtesy of FightNews Canada, Submission Fighter Canada and Winnipeg Sun
The card was headlined by a World Championship Muay Thai fight featuring hugely popular Winnipeg Giuseppe "The Godfather" DeNatale (left) against Mexico City's Raul "The Terminator" Romero.
The boxing portion of the evening featured 2 bouts. In the first bout, Amanda Carriere of Edmonton was stopped in round 3 by Winnipeger Olivia Gerula. The bout featured some good action, but Gerula seemed to be the stronger of the two and finally dropped her opponent in round 3 picking up the TKO win. Next up was a good Middleweight matchup between Canadian Middleweight Champion Larry "Razor" Sharpe of nearby Pine Falls, Manitoba against tough Martin Desjardins of Montreal. Desjardins is a stern test for anyone having been in with some of the best Middleweights in North America. Sharpe was looking to get in some work before he heads out to Nova Scotia to defend against, what could prove to be his toughest test to date, Jason Naugler, in November. Sharpe worked off his southpaw jab and used ring movement to frustrate the iron chinned Desjardins. Montreal's Desjardins moved forward all night looking to mix it up with Sharpe, but the champion's ring movement proved the perfect foil to beat his game opponent. Final scores were 78-74, 79-73, 80-72, all in favour of Sharpe. Both
fighters appeared to have suffered some cuts in the fight. Desjardin's
eye looked especially bad in round 5 when the referee stopped the
action and asked the doctor to take a look at it.
DeNatale, the reigning International Kickboxing Federation Muay Thai Heavyweight champ, took on Mexico's Romero Saturday night in the main event of the Gladiators Fighting "Colosseum of Champions III" card at Winnipeg Convention Centre.
"I'm hitting him flush and I'm turning his head on his shoulders," DeNatale said. "I'm hitting him with everything, with everything I got, and I was kind of admiring my work. I'd hit him and it was like, 'Ooh, that was a nice shot. I turned his head all the way around. 'TOUGH DUDE', "But then I was like, 'How the hell are you still standing? I have no clue how you're still standing up. You should be lying on the ground.' I'll give that boy credit. He's a tough dude. He hits hard and he can take a hard shot." Romero, who weighted in at 236 pounds, presented a tough challenge for DeNatale, who was 15 pounds lighter at the opening bell. "It was a real tough fight, and I diverted from the game plan," DeNatale said. "The game plan was for the guerilla warfare -- hit him and get out. I don't know what happened there. "... It turned into a street fight. I think the fans were entertained though." Saturday night's tilt wasn't a title fight since Romero is a Super Heavyweight, but DeNatale will have to defend his IKF crown at some point in the next 12 months, and he also plans to return to K-1 fighting as well. Until
then, he plans to take it easy. I need some time off," DeNatale
said. "I just fought five months ago for the world title, and
I need a little bit of down time."
The Godfather is the best standup fighter in Winnipeg and perhaps Canada. In a tough slugfest, he emerged the victor. More to come tomorrow. I will leave you with this though. When Giuseppe entered the arena today, the crowd went nuts. This always happens when he is fighting in front of the hometown crowd. But today, something was different. Today DeNatale made me feel like a champion. Even before the fight started, I felt electrified. That a phenomenal fight, I still have goose bumps. Congrats Giuseppe, that was a battle. There is a new Canadian hero in town and I hope he is here to stay! About the event itself, what can I say. There have been emails coming into me for two days about it. Everyone had great things to say. As far as I am concerned, this was one of the best events I have been to. From start to finish, this event was awesome!
"best 30 bucks I have ever spent!" "I was there for the MMA, but that Gerula/Carrier fight was off the charts!" "that main event was the best kickboxing match I have ever seen!" "this event will force other events work hard to achieve this quality!" "can't wait to January for the next one, that was wicked!" "Higson and Balacastro was the 2nd best Kickboxing match I have seen!" And finally . . . "best
ring card girls ever!!!"
TRIPLE STYLE MAIN EVENT IN WINNIPEG!!!
After putting himself through 12 gruelling weeks of training, Giuseppe "The Godfather" DeNatale can't wait for the long walk to the ring on Saturday night. DeNatale, the World Heavyweight Muay Thai champion, headlines the main event of Gladiators Fighting "Colosseum of Champions III" against Mexican Kickboxing champion Raul "The Terminator" Romero at the Winnipeg Convention Centre. "The enjoyment comes after the fight. The harder you train, the easier the fight is," DeNatale, a Winnipegger, said yesterday. "There's no place better in the world to fight than at home. Everyone that matters in your life comes out and watches you fight." DeNatale, who started in traditional karate when he was eight-years-old and made the transition to Kickboxing a decade ago, knows all about his Mexican opponent since he once travelled with him on the K-1 fighting circuit.
"We call it guerilla warfare," he said. "You hit him, attack and get the hell out of there. It's going to be a chess match. I'm not going to stand there and let him tee off on me, that's for sure." DeNatale, who retired for a couple months last year before coming back to win the world title, concedes his fighting career is nearing its end, but he still enjoys stepping in the ring and squaring off with an opponent. "I don't know how many more fights I have in me," he said. "I'm a veteran fighter and I run my own school. I enjoy training up-and-coming fighting and I get a thrill out of training younger fighters. "I go into every fight thinking it could be the last. What I'm going to miss most about fighting is the day of the fight, getting ready to walk to the ring, the adrenaline that goes through your body. It's hard to explain. When you know that fight is coming, you're preparing to do battle."
"It's never been about the money, it's about how far I could push myself as a fighter," he said, noting Saturday would be the 35th match of his career. "I fought some of the toughest dudes walking the planet. Fighting is not a game. You don't play kick boxing or play Muay Thai. There's no greater feeling than if it's just you and your opponent and may the best man win."
He's hoping a crowd of close to 3,000 will take in the 11-bout card that features Muay Thai, Mixed Martial Arts (UFC style) and Boxing. Canadian middleweight champ Larry "Razor" Sharpe (left) faces Martin Dejardins of Montreal in an eight-round boxing tilt, while Winnipeggers Olivia Gerula (right) and Amanda Carriere go toe-to-toe in a female Boxing match. The event gets underway at 7:00 p.m. and runs between 3 1/2 to 4 hours. For tickets (which may be purchased at the door) and information, please call CKMTC at (204) 772-2599 or King John Boxing at (204) 982-4540.
Doors open at 5:30 with an "Awesome Amateurs" undercard, followed by the main card at 7:30 p.m. Over 20 bouts are planned for the evening. In the main event, the current Gladiators Fighting Featherweight Kickboxing Champion Hiroshi "El Samurai" Takamatsu (right), fighting out of Duke Roufus Academy, will battle for the vacant Gladiators Fighting Bantamweight Kickboxing title against Bruce Sessman, representing Sessman Muay Thai in St. Louis, MO. Other local fighters appearing on the packed card include: Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu specialist and Duke Roufus Academy MMA instructor Jon "White Trash" Friedland, Milwaukee's Kickboxing Ironman Horace "The Real Deal" Craft, MMA fighter Reese "Old Man" Shaner and Duke Roufus Academy Kickboxers "Danny Boy" Downes, "Crush 'em" Casey Garza, "The Savage" Dan LaSavage, Sasa "The Serbian Warrior" Perkic and Kyle "Wicked" Weickhardt. The event is presented by KISS FM, Shepherd-Express.com and Time Warner Cable. Gold VIP Table seats are available for $80.00 each and include waitress service and light food. In addition, Bronze Floor Reserved seats are also available for $30.00. All tickets may be reserved by calling (414) 967-7767. VISA and Mastercard are accepted.
Hendricks and Whitesel Defend, Dent and Swift Battle for Gladiators Fighting Titles at "Caged Vengeance 2"
Fresh off a big win over Kola Koka in Hawaii, hometown favorite Jason “Dynamite” Dent, pictured above, middle) will tangle with Erie, PA’s Dan “The Pennsylvania Hitman” Swift for the vacant Gladiators Fighting MMA Lightweight title. Dent and Swift are among the most experienced and talented Lightweights in the sport today and each bring a straight forward approach to the cage which should lead to a very entertaining title fight. After defeating UFC veteran Adrian Serrano to capture the Gladiators Fighting MMA Middleweight title this past June in Milwaukee (above, right), Mitch Whitesel has been eagerly anticipating defending his belt in his home state of Ohio and will now get his chance against Gladiators Fighting MMA veteran Thomas “The Beast” Russell. Russell’s confidence is at an all-time high after what many considered an upset win over Jason “Freebird” Freeman back in June of this year at "Fight Nite in the Flats 2." An athletic and explosive fighter, Russell is becoming a legitimate threat and should match up well with Whitesel who is considered one of the more well rounded Gladiators MMA Middleweights. Also on the card and making his return to MMA will be Kickboxing champion Ryan “The Lion” Madigan who is coming off a successful MMA debut at June's "Fight Nite in the Flats 2." A fierce striker, Madigan will collide with Canadian boxer Dave Nash in a Welterweight Gladiators Fighting MMA battle. Nash, a veteran of 15 professional Boxing contests, will be making his Gladiators Fighting MMA debut in Cleveland while looking to establish himself in the sport with a win over Madigan. Fan favorites Jason “Freebird” Freeman and unbeaten Welterweight “Smokin'” Joe Heiland are also scheduled for action along with Cleveland’s Donnie Walker who has vaulted into the Gladiators Fighting MMA Lightweight title mix with a recent win over the previously unbeaten Jason Taylor. Reserved seat tickets for "Caged Vengeance 2" are now on sale and available on line at www.Prokarateweekly.com or by calling 330-324-2525. Takamatsu Tenacious In Title Battle in the Bay
Even in the face of his loosing effort, the 45 year old Streator would definitely have won the award for toughest fighter of the evening as he shook off Takamatsu's repeated shots to the jaw/face, body and legs for 15 action packed minutes. While he was able to muster some response of his own from time-to-time, Streator was out-worked for the Gladiators championship by a determined Takamatsu who takes over the once vacant Featherweight Kickboxing title. The exciting championship bout capped off the first ever Gladiators Fighting Kickboxing & MMA show in Green Bay as first time Gladiators promoter Adam Sandoval put himself on the map in grand fashion with a stellar fight card and finely tuned, well run production.
